Factur-X E-Invoice Export (Pro)
What a Factur-X e-invoice is, when you need one, and how to download it from euinvoice.app.

What is Factur-X?
Factur-X (identical to ZUGFeRD 2.x in Germany) is a hybrid e-invoice format: a normal PDF you can open and read, with the invoice data embedded inside as structured XML that accounting software and tax authorities can process automatically. It complies with the European e-invoicing standard EN 16931.
Under the EU's ViDA rules and national mandates (Germany, France, and others phasing in), a plain PDF increasingly does not count as an e-invoice; a structured format like Factur-X does.
When do I need it?
If you invoice German businesses: Germany's B2B mandate accepts ZUGFeRD/Factur-X, and all German businesses must already be able to receive e-invoices. Issuing becomes mandatory in phases from 2027.
If you invoice French businesses: Factur-X is one of France's accepted formats for its incoming mandate.

How to download a Factur-X invoice
Fill in your invoice on the Create Invoice page as usual. In the download box, click "Download as Factur-X" (next to the regular PDF button). You get a single .pdf file that is both the human-readable invoice and the embedded EN 16931 XML. Send it to your client like any other invoice.
Factur-X export is a Pro feature. The regular PDF download stays free, always.
Is the output actually compliant?
Yes. Files are generated to the Factur-X EN 16931 (COMFORT) profile as PDF/A-3 and validate cleanly against the industry-standard Mustangproject validator (which checks PDF/A-3 conformance, the XML schema, and the EN 16931 business rules). Standard, reverse-charge, and VAT-exempt invoices are all supported.
Note: euinvoice does not yet produce country-specific clearance formats (Poland's KSeF, Italy's SdI, pure-XML XRechnung) and does not transmit invoices over the Peppol network. Those are on our roadmap.
Limitations and honest notes
Factur-X covers the format requirement. Some countries' mandates also require sending invoices through a specific network or government platform, in those countries a Factur-X file alone is not sufficient. The country guides explain exactly what each mandate requires.
